WWROF Helps WRTC-2014 in Reaching Its Funding Goal for July Competition
World Radiosport Team Championship 2014 (WRTC-2014) has announced a “significant financial contribution" from the World Wide Radio Operators Foundation (WWROF). The donation was in the form of a match challenge for donations during the Contest Dinner on May 17, held in conjunction with Dayton Hamvention®. Attendees could contribute through the purchase of door prize tickets or through pledges gathered at each table. WWROF offered a limited match, while DX Engineering gave $100 gift certificates to the table with the largest donation total. At the event’s conclusion, contributions to WRTC-2014 exceeded $10,000. Three tables pledged more than $1000 to earn a “Team Village” sponsorship.
In a separate activity, the Dayton 2014 RTTY Contest Dinner collected more than $1000 in donations from those attending.
“We continue to be amazed at the generosity and support of the contest community for WRTC-2014,” said WRTC-2014 Chair Doug Grant, K1DG. “We are getting very close to our financial goals to fully fund the event.”
Fifty-nine teams of top Amateur Radio contest operators from 38 countries will travel to New England July 8-14 to compete in WRTC-2014 for the gold, silver and bronze medals.
