I would like to see detailed audio specs noted when ARRL reviews various transceivers. The "supplied-with" (usually hand held) mics that are included with a given transceiver come with very little, if any, info as to frequency response, polar pattern, etc. Such specs are standard with broadcast and recording mics, but are rarely provided by the manufacturers of amateur radio equipment.
Maybe even a mic "shoot-out" article featuring various supplied-with and after-market "accessory" mics (such as those made by the same companies that make the common transceivers) would be very welcome - and would make purchasing decisions more informed. |
