I live in Florida and also I travel to Kansas. I like to set up a portable station. Can I use my call sign plus/PW0 or do I need a new for temporary Call sign residence here in the state of Kansas? Thank you for your help. |

The FCC no longer allows you to hold portable or temporary calls even if you own multiple residences. You no longer need to sign portable. Zak W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

Secondary and repeater (WR) callsigns went away when the current callsign assignment system went into effect in March 1978. Those licenses that were still in effect could be used until they expired, but they could not be renewed. In my case, I held both types, and they expired in 1979 (A ham license had a 5-year term then). Callsigns are one to a customer now. |
