Summer has come to a close. The cooler half of the year has arrived. Actually, summer was not all that hot. We didnt have multiple digit temps very often. On the east end of the state I believe 3 official heat waves were declared south of KC and one of them didn’t quite fulfill its requirement. Thats fine. It kept my electric bill low. Maybe the winter will be moderate as well.
Field day was hot and/or wet depending on where you were set up. It almost always is. From my vantage there appeared to be more newly licensed operators participating this year. That’s good to see.

Reno County Amateur Radio Association had another successful hamfest in August. Hesston College Fire Science Center is a nice location with air conditioned fleamarket area and a decent size meeting room. I was not able to attend this time. Our Assistant Section Manager AKØA, Ken represented ARRL at the event.
Leavenworth County A.R.E.S. set up a booth at the LV fair. The group has a good relationship with the county.
