Description:

Welcome to the Iowa Section!

May 14, 2025

A few quick notes:

Elizabeth Cowley KDØKQX is the new Public Information Officer. She is a welcome addition to the section leadership team.

The Des Moines hamfest was a great event. LOTS of equipment, including some classic Collins gear. I know many items found new homes. We had a good turnout for the ARRL Forum. I got to meet lots of folks and representatives of different clubs.

Story County ARC sponsored a POTA gathering a few weeks ago. There's lots of interest in POTA. It's a great way to bring activity to your club.

I've had the priviliege of presenting the Cedar Valley ARC WØGQ and the Northeast Iowa Amateur Radio Association WØMG with plaques recognizing them with 75 years of ARRL club affiliation. This is an amazing award to two great clubs.Congratulations to all the past and current members of both clubs.

If your club is going to be active on Field Day, be sure to download the guide from ARRL HQ. It is very good at helping you get media attention for your event.

April 9, 2025

I'm happy to inform you that David Roberts K9DCR has accepted the appointment as Section Traffic Manager. Dave has a good history of supporting the Iowa traffic nets and I look forward to working with him.

The new web page is up!           https://www.arrl-iowa.org/
Please have a look and check back often as we are working on adding more content. Please join the Midwest Division group at:    Midwest Div. There will be more news and info on events there.

CLUBS
Tim NØCKR and I have been trying to contact all of the clubs in Iowa. Most are active and doing well. We've not been able to contact all the clubs. Please ask at your next club meeting to ensure club leadership is in touch. We have an exciting new discussion group which will enhance your club by sharing success stories.

ARES
Similar to contacting clubs, Clint KØGR is trying to contact all of the EC's. If you are an EC, DEC, AEC, please check in with Clint. You can JOIN the new statewide ARES group at -->  IA-ARES.

We are moving into a new era for amateur radio in Iowa. If you plan to attend the Des Moines Hamfest on April 26, please stop by the ARRL table and say hello!  I want to hear from you.

==========================================

Hello

On my first day as Iowa Section Manager, I've had lots of phone calls and emails from members of the section. I also had a meeting with the Linn County EMA, at their request.

Things are moving along! This is a new era for the Iowa Section. I hope to make a few things better.  The list of appointments had 10SK's. These have been removed. I postumously thank them for their service to the amateur radio community.

Effective 1 April 2025:

Clint KØGR is appointed Section Emergency Coordinator. He is well known and respected in the Iowa section. He will be working the list of current EC, AEC appointments as

Tim NØCKR is appointed the Section Club Coordinator. He is very enthusiastic about improving clubs. This was the main focus of my campaign.

I am struggling with many issues and requests to attend club meetings. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Good DX!
