New to amateur radio. I have seen numerous ads for 50HZ high frequency transceivers In my eyes, the Gigahertz range is high frequency. Could someone explain it to me? Thanks..

You probably mean 50 MHz (megaherz)?

The conventional divisions go like this

MF (medium frequency) 300 kHz - 3 MHz
HF (high frequency) 3 - 30 MHz
VHF (very high frequency) 30 - 300 MHz
UHF (ultra high frequency) 300 - 3000 MHz (3 GHz)
and SHF above that, etc. etc.

This nomenclature probably dates from WW II, if not before, when VHF was still pretty exotic.

Check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_spectrum for more.
