I recently signed up as an associate member of ARRL because I have no FCC license yet, and I am one of the many people who have returned to radio after a long absence. Back in the early 1970s I was a US Army 05B Morse code radio operator and, yeah, my primary interest here today is in CW radio.

In recent months I have spent a fair amount of time surfing the web and have learned a lot. For instance, the Army gave each of us a radio and told us what to do with them, but getting an amateur radio station on the air involves having a lot more knowledge about a wide range of topics.

Meanwhile I am relearning code by the Koch method at the same 35 wpm speed that I operated at many years ago, and have discovered that the old saying about riding a bicycle is true, that once a person has learned how to ride one then relearning how to ride one comes quite easily.
