EARS' members have a very broad interest in various aspects of amateur radio including emergency communications, DX, special event support, and experimentation. EARS is a non-profit organization under IRS Section 501(c)(7); designation under 501(c)(3) is pending.
EARS operates a 2m repeater (WA7FQD) with coverage in Springfield, Eugene, and surrounding areas.
EARS recently renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Springfield, Oregon. This MOU includes EARS supporting emergency communications as requested by the City. The City provides space in the Justice Center for EARS radio room (shack). The EARS shack has HF, VHF, UHF capability.
EARS sponsors an ARRL VEC license exam session on the 4th Saturday of each month at the Springfield, OR Justice Center. The exam begins at 1:00 PM local time. Those taking an exam should arrive by 12:45 PM.
