The Aero ARC was established in 1946 in cooperation with the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Co. in Middle River, MD. Although no longer affiliated with the Martin Co, it is still a thriving entity today. The club has been affiliated with the ARRL throughout its history. The Aero ARC is an ARRL VEC affiliated club providing license testing 6 times per year, 5 times at the White Marsh Library and once at the Essex Skypark during Field day weekend. The radio club meets twice a month , on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7:30 pm. The Essex Skypark (W48) is located at 1401 Diffendall Rd., Essex MD. 21221. In addition to meetings the club members participate in Open Nets on the following dates and frequencies: 2nd Wednesday 449.575r MHz PL 123.0, 4th Wednesday 147.24 PL 123.0 MHz repeater and 5th Wednesday 28.445 MHz USB. The repeaters are located at Kenwood High School in Essex. The 2 meter repeated has been in operation since August 1976, the 70 centimeter since 1980. Since 2015 the 70 centimeter repeater has been a Yaesu Fusion C4FM mode digital repeater running in Auto mode. Throughout the year the club participates in various activities such as: Field Day, State contest, Communication support for Airport functions, emergency support for weather related events. The club also provides CW classes on air and in person before meetings. The club publishes a monthly news letter which is posted on our web site.
